This clear PVC-free cling film is easy to install and remove, and it can be configured for mounting facing inside or outside. It's great for temporary or longer term use and it stays easily removable and reusable.
Clear EcoCling Window Decal
This PVC-free polyester film is designed for easily installable window graphics for advertising, POP window signage, decals, seasonal window graphics and more. Since it has no adhesive, it can be installed and removed easily without leaving a residue. It can also be reapplied as often as need, and it won’t stretch or fall off in cold weather like static clings. For a face mount application, the clear version can be reverse printed with a white flood coat.
The product photos above show the Clear EcoCling sample on a window both with and without a white floodcoat. There is also a photo showing what the graphic looks like from inside looking out. Generally, we recommend the white floodcoat behind all or part of the design when the decals are being used for advertising purposes because they make the image much easier to see. If the graphic is being used for decorative purposes, it's best without the white floodcoat as it will look better from the inside, as shown in a separate photo. Without the white layer, the graphic will always look better on the side where it's illuminated lighting from the other side of the window. In the example photo, the image looks better from the inside because it's sunny outside, but at night with the light on inside, the graphic would look better from the outside.
Also keep in mind that in these photos, the image without the white floodcoat is printed for backlighting so it won't look washed when it's illuminated by light through the window. The image with the white floodcoat is printed for normal frontlit viewing. If you want your design printed so it looks correct when there's no light passing through it, chose the 3 Layer Printing white ink option so the graphic will look correct both with and without illumination.
Approximate longevity of up to 5-10 years indoors, 2 years outdoors. Available in widths up to 54".
The cling surface isn't adhesive so it can be reused repeatedly, and cleaned if it gets dirty. Clear EcoCling can be printed so either the back or face of the print sticks to the glass. It's eco-friendly.
Designed for flat windows on homes or businesses, it won't conform to curves or stick securely enough to be used on the outside of vehicle windows.
Promotional or decorative window graphics for business or residential windows. It's great for graphics that need to be easily removed, such as promotional graphics, and since it can be reused, it's also excellent for seasonal graphics or repeating promotions where the graphics can be saved and reused at a later date.
EcoCling window decals can be installed with or without water. It's easier to install without water, but you are more likely to get bubbles. Installing with water makes it easier to prevent bubbles, but the finished product will look better, so we recommend the wet installation.
Graphics should be trimmed so that they are at least 1/8" away from window frames and seals to allow for expansion. The graphic will not adhere to silicone edging.
First and foremost, be sure the surface is clean, dust-free and free of any oils or grease. Dirt and other contaminants allow pockets of air that undermine the seal necessary for a good installation. Use mild soap and water, rinse well. Do not use solvent-based glass cleaners.
Applying the Window Decal
Slowly and gently remove the media from the backing or liner. Take care not to crease the media. Place the top edge of the media in position and gently smooth from the top edge of the media downward and outward to seal it against the surface and remove air bubbles. The cling coating has a great affinity for high gloss surfaces so the film will suck down onto surface upon contact making installation even easier. The installer may not even want to smooth down the surface depending on how well the film clings by itself upon contact. To smooth the media we recommend the use of an application roller, squeegee or even a credit card.
For wet application, lightly spray the window with water, remove liner and position the film. A squeegee or roller can be used to remove the water and air bubbles. Use a soft cloth or paper towel to soak up the excess water as it's removed. Once you are no longer able to remove any water, allow the decal to dry and any excess moisture will evaporate leaving a smooth decal. It can take up to 72 hours for all the moisture to completely evaporate.
If the piece to be applied is large it may help to remove only the top third or so of the media from the liner, apply the exposed media and smooth it into place. Then, slowly and carefully peel the backing away and smooth the remaining media into place. After the whole piece is applied, gently smooth the media down from the top and out to the edges, removing as many air bubbles as practicable. If large bubbles are trapped it may be necessary to lift the media off the surface and re-smooth it from that point rather than trying to force the bubble to the edge. Smaller bubbles will tend to disappear over time.
If repositioning the piece is necessary, use the edge of a squeegee or other thin, stiff object (a credit card works well) and gently slide it under a corner and gently lift the media, reposition it and smooth it as described above.
For re-use of a piece, carefully lift one corner (see above), gently remove the piece and replace it on the liner. Follow the steps above for re-installation.
If the cling surface does get dirty, it can be cleaned with water by gently wiping with a, non-abrasive, lint-free cloth that has been dampened with warm (not hot) water.
